Pearly-Dewdrops 8/11: Ruminations on the new Grass Widow album, Sleater-Kinney and Cats

I have a radio show called Pearly-Dewdrops. I keep reminding myself to connect the blog and the show more, but it never happens. That, and I don't like to promote myself. I don't have much ego.

The new Grass Widow album, Past Time, comes out tomorrow, and here at kdvs we got an advance copy. To keep things short, it's fucking great. Anyways, since it comes out tomorrow, I figured i'd post the show where I play a number of Grass Widow songs (and one from the new album). Their new album already leaked, so you can find it easy enough. I may upload a flac copy of it, I may not. If people really want me to, then I will.

I also debut a newish cd by Emily Frembgen, a friend of mine, ponder on cats and play a cabaret version of a classic Sleater-Kinney song. I also played a whole side of a compilation of artists covering Beat Happening, so the show is high in awesomeness.

Tomorrow morning I'll have a suprise for you all, so check back soon.

Listen to the show here.

Look Who's Bustin' Out

A small treat for those who figure out the code for what this is, because I think there are more people than usual who wouldn't want this floating around the internets.

Since no one ever really pays attention to this blog, just like me in real life (aww, haha), only a few of you will be blessed with this little gem.

If you haven't heard of this, then you have now. Some of my favorite music is post-punk/new wave/post disco. Basically, this compilation. Featuring some of my favorite artists and some of the greatest songs that you've probably never heard of. ESG, Colourbox, Pylon, Chris and Cosey- it goes on and on, getting better and better, until it's over and you automatically re-start it without realizing that it ended and having as much fun as the first time. Yes folks, it's that good. Even if you hate this genre or rock or funk or disco, you may still hate this compilation- but you should still listen to it for musical education, or as I like to blab on about, those musical vegetables. There is a little for everyone on this compilation, and as far as I can tell the only problem with it is that they didn't make any on vinyl. Although not everyone is a musical elitist-cum-vinylhead, so I guess this is a small transgression.

The background picture went haywire too, and if I ever get my lazy worthless ass together I'll fix that and the fact that the fucking comments still don't work. Ugh.

!Enjoy!
